YAY my second stamp~

It really bugs me when people think this D:

I've seen one too many people trying to use big words in a sad attempt to be "deep". It's different from people who really have an expanded vocabulary, they understand what they're saying. I'm sorry if this is rude, but trying to make me "nosebleed" just isn't going to boost your iq.

I see a lot of people trying to speak like this to make themselves feel smart by putting others down. Doing this doesn't make them stupid, it makes you stupid. It's possible they don't understand what you're saying, but they don't look ridiculous. Honestly, i find it low.

There's nothing wrong with small words. Short sentences exist too ;D

Big words don't make you smart but how you use them does. You could know all the greatest words the English language (or any language) has to offer but if you lack the knowledge of knowing what they mean and how to use them you wind up looking like a fool.

Some people DO just talk and act like they are the smartest people in the world. No one is ever smartest but people can always be smarter. In this day and age where writing without using any vowels or shortening words to save "time", I think it does give a person the right to feel smarter than another.

Of course it's never right to assume anything of anyone but when people dumb themselves down they're only asking to be judged.

You're dumb.
:iconugly-muffin:
I completely agree with you, it's not about what you say but how you say it.
As much as i'd like to seem smart and speak in english very well, i want to make an effort to understand what i'm saying. That's pretty much the whole point of talking.

Exactly, and if someone feels like they need to "prove themselves" by using such words just makes them look like an ass hole :P People like to get things straight and to the point and not have to worry about some technical jargon they don't understand.

You're dumb.
:iconugly-muffin:
It does really, i wish they'd see that. Being quick and to the point would really make things a lot easier.

i write a fair amount and big words are usefull. they let you express what you are really trying to say. i agree though that using big words to make others feel stupid is low. i also hate people using a big word incorrectly. so, in a way i am for and against big words. as i always say "why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice?"

"I have good news and bad news."
"Whats the bad news?"
"There is no good news."
"Whats the good news?"
"You're an idiot."

Yes they are, if you're trying to go into a detailed kind of talk. But for everyday use, i don't think they're needed, especially when they dont make sense with the rest of the sentence.
